The façade, dominated by limestone carvings of the symbols and emblems of this Civil War Veterans organization, was created by Peoria sculptor Joseph Petarde.

An 1862 Civil War mortar and a pyramid of steel balls flank the entrance. The arched stained glass window is an exact replica of the original window which was destroyed by a falling tree limb in the 1960s.

PNC Bank - Commercial National Bank

The carved limestone veneers on the outside lower levels elicit a heavy, massive presence.

Enter the lobby with its marble detailing and arched windows and you find it delicate, intricate and light. The lobby is one of the most impressive indoor spaces in Peoria.

Peoria City Hall

Designed and built by Reeves and Baillee in 1897 for just $271,500.

The city hall was dedicated January 5-7, 1899. The building is still Peoria’s city hall and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Peoria Public Library

In 1968, a new main library was dedicated. That building and four others locations were renovated beginning in 2009.

Today’s Peoria Public Library has been fully upgraded and modernized with computers, online services, free wifi, meetings rooms and program opportunities for both adults and children.

Rumberger’s

Rumberger’s embraces the architectural significance of the building.

Located at the Madison Theatre, which opened on October 16, 1920, was a silent picture theatre and has had its share of challenges over the years – a fire and multiple owners.
